Dr. Charles J. Sullivan specializes in various national security topics with a focus on Central and Southwest Asia, Russia, and the former Soviet Union region. Dr. Sullivan earned his PhD from The George Washington University in Washington DC, and he worked as an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Nazarbayev University in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from 2014 to 2022. He has published articles in a variety of outlets such as Asian Security, Asian Affairs, Nationalities Papers, Asia Policy, US Army War College Quarterly - Parameters, ISPI, CEPA, and Vedomosti. Dr. Sullivan has conducted extensive field research in Russia and Kyrgyzstan, and is the author of the forthcoming book, Motherland: Soviet Nostalgia in the Russian Federation (Palgrave Macmillan).
