Under the auspices of His Excellency Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Bourdi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, the Ministry of Defence organized its annual conference " 21st Century War Leaders " under the title "The Role of Defence in National Resilience Beyond 2020" on Monday, 16/11/2020. The sessions of the conference were held virtually this year with the participation of specialized experts from inside and outside the country.
The participants and faculty members of the 8th NDC Course 2020-2021 joined the UAE MOD teleconference platform to explore the challenges faced by world countries as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and ways to overcome them. The conference, which was attended by many local, regional, and international experts, aims to identify the nature of the current crisis and the threat posed by the spread of the novel Covid -19, which has become a common enemy of humankind, which requires intensive international efforts to confront and contain it. It requires ways on how to adapt to the conditions imposed by this pandemic and ways to restore the daily life activities, and to learn about the effects and consequences of the outbreak of Covid -1, which has become a common enemy of humanity, which requires intensive international efforts to confront and contain it, as well as how to adapt to the conditions imposed by this pandemic and how to restore the daily life activities and explore the effects and consequences of the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The conference also focused on the role that national or international institutions should play in preparing for these challenges and addressing such threats in the future, reviewing the important role of defence institutions and their contribution to the development and arming it with national flexibility as well as highlighting the contributions of the UAE armed forces to national resilience and government efforts in combating the Covid-19.
The "Role of Defence in National Resilience Post-2020" conference is a continuation of the MoD's series of the 21st Century War Leaders conferences since 2016 which aim to prepare future leaders to become capable of proactive, foresighted, and rapidly adaptive in responding to emerging challenges by supporting them with the latest defence and national security insights.
