Brooke Smith-Windsor, Ph.D. ASSISTANT COMMANDANT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS (DEAN OF THE COLLEGE)

Dr. Brooke Smith-Windsor has over 25 years of professional experience in defence education and training, policy research, official defence strategy and capability development, and interagency crisis management, including time spent on field deployments in combat zones. His previous positions comprise Director of Strategic Guidance at the Canadian Department of National Defence, Commanding Officer/Senior National Representative (Canada), Faculty Advisor and Deputy Head of Research Division at the NATO Defence College, and Senior Research Leader (Defence, Security and Infrastructure Group) and Senior Fellow at The RAND Corporation (Europe). Dr. Smith-Windsor has served as the political advisor (POLAD), both ashore and afloat, to senior General and Flag Officers, including the former chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and former US Chief of Naval Operations. He is the principal editor of three books on NATO’s evolving international partnerships and has been published in leading current affairs journals. Dr. Smith-Windsor is a graduate of China’s National Defence University International Symposium Course, the NATO Defence College Senior Course, and the NATO Executive Development Program (ESCP Business School). He holds degrees from the Universities of Toronto (B.A. Hons.) and Leeds, U.K. (Ph.D.).
