Dr. Hae Won Jeong
Hae Won Jeong Ph.D. ASSISTANT Professor

Dr. Hae Won Jeong is an Assistant Professor at the UAE National Defense College (NDC). Prior to joining NDC, Dr. Jeong was a faculty in the Academic Programs for Military Colleges at Abu Dhabi University. As part of her previous role, she taught courses in the Master of International Relations program at the Joint Command and Staff College, UAE. Dr. Jeong also taught in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies, UK.

Dr. Jeong has been based in the Gulf states for over a decade and conducted fieldwork in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. As an area studies specialist, she has taken an interdisciplinary approach to her research; her research interests lie at the intersection of discourse analysis, public and cultural diplomacy, and foreign policy analysis. Dr. Jeong was a research consultant at Bani & Al Culture and she serves in the editorial board of.

As a South Korean native, her research in recent years has expanded to examining South Korea-Middle East relations; Dr. Jeong is the author of the book, South Korea’s Middle Power Diplomacy: Development, Political and Diplomatic Trajectories (Routledge, 2022).

Dr. Jeong holds a PhD from University of London, a MA from Columbia University, and a BA from Syracuse University.
