H.E. Eng. Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, delivered a lecture to the NDC Course 2018-2019 participants on Sunday January 20, 2019 titled "Energy and Water" at the College's headquarters under the context of the economy within the NDC course. His Excellency was received by Major General Staff Pilot Rashad Al-Saadi, NDC Commandant, NDC Deputy Commandant, and a number of officers and leaders of the wings.
 
H.E. the Minister of Energy started his lecture by welcoming the participants, officers and faculty members. He expressed his happiness about the meeting that held annually to review the most important strategies and challenges facing the energy and industry sector.
 
During the lecture, Al Mazrouei spoke about the most important sectors of energy in the UAE. First of all is oil, which is one of the fundamentals of the economy in the country and the need to find strategies to provide an ample quantity for future generations and to develop ways to preserve it and other related sources of energy such as natural gas and electricity generation, along with water and other clean energy sources such as nuclear and solar energy.
 
His Excellency the Minister explained that the UAE has developed a strategy based on four pillars: energy supply security, the cost and sustainability of these supplies and the consumer’s happiness with the availability and accessibility to a clean renewable energy over time. His Excellency highlighted also the challenges facing the energy sector in general, particularly the biggest global challenge which is the quality and quantity of water resources.
 
The Minister of Energy at the end of his lecture recommended the need to reduce our consumption of water and electricity as human beings to save these resources for the future generations. He stressed the need for cooperation of all various sectors to support energy saving and reduce consumption, to transform the UAE following all policies and practices developed into a self-sustaining state, able to withstand challenges and subsist through the availability of clean and sustainable energy sources, thus achieving all spectrums of energy security, which will contribute to the prosperity of the society and sustain the growth of the UAE economy. At the end of the lecture, His Excellency expressed his thanks to the audience and accommodated their questions.
