Tuesday 09 June 2020

Following the NDC Course program, the NDC delivered a lecture on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 to the participants of the 7th NDC Course 2019-2020 via the teleconferencing system under the title “The Future of the Yemeni Crisis”.

The lecture was delivered by His Excellency Khaled Bahah, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Yemen, where he highlighted the developments of the recent events on the Yemeni scene. During the lecture, he maintained that many analysts expect that the situation in Yemen will witness an escalation in the pace of military operations, which may lead to a decisive military action that can end the crisis without using other political instruments. He maintained that, on the other hand, other analysts argue that the military action is only the first step in a long-term political process, and that a politically troubled country cannot be settled by relying solely on the use of military power.

The lecture aimed to analyze the current Yemeni crisis, propose optimal solutions to end the crisis, and draw expectations on how the future Yemeni state will look like. The lecture also highlighted the possible role of UAE in any transitional government that could arise in Yemen after the conflict ends.
